Wardlaw Heating & Cooling sold to St. Catharines company

Wardlaw Heating & Cooling – a local business that has been in business for over 40 years – has been sold to Right Time of St. Catharines.

Wardlaw confirmed the sale is effective March 31 but declined to comment further when contacted on Wednesday.

Wardlaw Heating & Cooling is a leading installer and service provider of heating, air conditioning and air quality equipment in Sault Ste. Married.

Its management and staff will continue to work as Right Time employees, although no major changes to Wardlaw’s signage are expected.

Terms of the company’s sale – announced on April 1 – were not disclosed.

Wardlaw Heating & Cooling has won numerous awards from the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce over the years.

“We are proud of the business we have built and our commitment to the community we have served over the past 40 years,” co-owner Greg Wardlaw said in a statement.

“We chose Right Time because they have an excellent reputation for integrating and optimizing local HVAC businesses while maintaining the local brand and reputation of the business, which we believe will benefit both our dedicated team and to our customers. We look forward to Wardlaw’s continued success and growth with Right Time.”

Right Time has acquired and added residential HVAC and home services locations to its existing network in Canada.

Right Time is described as “Canada’s leading independent heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) contractor focused on the residential market.”

It operates from 19 locations in Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia with more than 1,000 employees servicing, repairing and replacing household HVAC units.

Right Time is majority-owned by Gryphon Investors, a leading mid-market private equity firm based in San Francisco.

Wardlaw’s Facebook page states that the company was established in 1981 by Brian Wardlaw as a home heating oil delivery service with a gas station.

In 1996 Wardlaw moved to its current location at 347 Lake Street.

The company grew, providing its customers with heating and air conditioning services.

In 2012 Greg Wardlaw and Kelly Jackson acquired the company and expanded the installation and service divisions.

The company has customers from Batchawana to Thessalon.
