The new devices build on Renesas’ current family of RS-485 ISL315x 5V transceivers with additional immunity for EFT. In addition to the industry’s highest EFT immunity, the RAA78815x family provides exceptional differential output voltages, with 3.1 V into the 54 Ω load required by RS-485. Newer high speed transceivers also feature bus leakage currents of up to 125A, which represents an actual load of 1/8 unit on the RS-485 bus. Developers can connect up to 512 transceivers on the same bus without using repeaters and without compromising the maximum load of 32 units of the RS-485 network standard.
