Rain hampers East Texas lawn care companies
NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) – Areas of eastern Texas remain saturated with constant rainfall and this is impacting the way lawn service companies do business. Jeremy Thomas from KTRE spoke to two companies about what they are up against.
Now that things are drying out, people are eager to take care of their gardens or hire lawn service companies to spruce them up.
East Texas had to contend with excess precipitation, which put some lawn projects on hold.
Lee Hill with Evergreen Lawn Care and Aidan Cox with All About Lawns say this year’s weather conditions are causing issues with lawns and landscaping. According to Hill, “The ice storm had a real slowing effect on the greening and grass growth and then our cool nights and cloudy days really affected that too. “
Hill says “Due to all the rain we couldn’t mow and had to move all of our landscaping and do it instead of mowing. “
Cox and Hill both say that the drying out of the yards is causing high demand.
“Right now, we are working to maintain the fertility of the soil, so that the grass, plants and shrubs are as healthy as possible. The other thing with lawns is to make sure that we are reducing the fungal pathogens that are present with cloudy weather right now. We’ve actually grown as much as the number of clients we do, ”Hill said.
“When the weather is nice, you can mow and you start to catch up,” Cox said.
Lawn care companies insist on paying special attention to lawns and landscaping plants to make sure they don’t have fungal activity that can look like a powdery substance.
