Port Saint Lucie – Thursday July 6, 2022: Port Saint Lucie The 16th Annual Hurricane Preparedness Expo will be held Saturday, July 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center in Port St. Lucie.
The hurricane season has already started. It runs until November 30. Being prepared is key to protecting your home and loved ones during a severe storm. This year’s exhibit will focus on education and will include informative presentations from meteorologists, local emergency managers, city employees and key community organizations.
The expo is the city’s premier storm preparedness event that connects residents with businesses and emergency service providers. It aims to prepare residents for extreme weather situations through presentations, interactive exhibits, weather forecasts and more. This is a free event open to the public.

Even though the expo will have a smaller footprint this year, it will be packed with 44 vendors of preparation, presentations and giveaways. The event will feature exhibitors that focus on preparedness, such as storm shutters; tree and lawn maintenance; generators; water damage; garage doors; fences; gutters; and insurance.
The exhibit will also feature some fun new editions such as a scavenger hunt, interactive photo booth, and emergency vehicles on display from the American Red Cross, St. Lucie County Fire District, and Army of the United States. Hi. In addition, a Champion Dual Fuel 6250 watt portable generator, $100 Rocky’s Ace Hardware gift card, first aid kits and solar cells will be raffled off, and those who attend a presentation will receive a hat or a free Hurricane Expo bag, while supplies last. While this in-person event is the best way to start your hurricane preparations, the City’s website offers a virtual educational component including videos, hurricane supply lists, hurricane preparedness guides disasters, shelter locations and evacuation routes. Throughout the season, a variety of videos will be available, such as How Forecasting Has Changed from the National Weather Service, flood safety tips from former FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate, and a series of safety videos from Florida Power & Light.
