Phillips Edison & Company Releases Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report

(Nasdaq: CEEC) (“PECO”), one of the largest owners and operators of omnichannel, grocery store-anchored neighborhood shopping centers, today released its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) report for the year 2020 calendar. The report details the comprehensive CSR initiatives that PECO undertakes in various categories, including environmental responsibility, community engagement, diversity and inclusion, and associate engagement.

Major CSR achievements include:

  • Presentation of PECO ConnectMT to help neighbors (what PECO calls its tenants) resist closures and disruption related to COVID-19. PECO ConnectMT including the Front Row to Go© curbside pickup program, neighbor rewards program, webinars, printable signage and more.

  • Parking lots and storefronts activated to serve as COVID-19 testing and / or vaccination facilities.

  • Diversity and inclusion efforts amplified through the Associate-led Multicultural Opportunities, Resources and Education (PECO MORE) initiative, leveraging internal marketing and events to raise awareness and awareness of important related topics such as implicit bias .

  • Advanced initiatives to promote gender equality through the Associate-led PECO NOW (Networking Opportunities for Women) program. Since its creation, the efforts of this group have made it possible to triple the number of women in management positions at PECO.

  • Continued advancement of environmental sustainability initiatives, including:

    • Saved 7.2 million kilowatt hours thanks to improvements in exterior lighting, which represents an energy reduction of 82.4%. Improvements to interior lighting have reduced usage by 5.1 million kilowatt hours per year.

    • Upgrade of 2,360 tonnes of HVAC in 146 centers, generating savings of $ 2,456,200.

    • Installed a total of 11.15 million square feet of new white TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin roofing) projects.

    • Recycled over 27.2 million pounds, diverting 33% of waste and construction materials from landfills and equivalent to over 188,221 trees saved.

    • Installation of 36 charging stations for electric vehicles, for a total of 186 stations across the portfolio.
