Wondering where everyone is this weekend? Chances are they’ll be at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds for the annual home and garden show.
It’s a great excuse to put aside weekend chores and bring the whole family. New this year is a fun activity day for children in the south building. The two-day show runs until 5 p.m. today; On Sundays the opening hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and there are plenty of free parking spaces.
Next door in the north building there are dozens of booths hosted by vendors offering products and services for your project. Whether it’s new garage doors, landscaping, window treatments, flooring, or lighting, chances are you’ll find the resources here.
You’re bound to get hungry as you walk around, but don’t worry, right there in the parking lot there are food trucks and inside there’s a collapsible coffee cart to refuel. There are free giveaways and raffle prizes throughout the show, which is well worth it.
As well as gathering ideas on how to improve your home, it’s also a great social outlet — badly needed after two years of the pandemic.
Since 9:00 a.m. this morning, a steady stream of people from all ends of the county have been seen catching up with people they may not have seen face to face in some time. The space is well ventilated and there is plenty of room to move around easily.
At Voice of the Valley of the Ark booth (Nord-10), lots of familiar faces and supporters stopped by to say hello. Additionally, dozens of people new to Chaffee County came to meet staff and learn how they could be better informed about news that matters in their new place of residence and how to best connect with the community.
This show is produced and managed by the Salida Sunrise Rotary Club, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Learn more at SalidaSunriseRotary.org.
