Man says he woke up to the sound of someone trying to kick the front door of his house: University Heights police blotter

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio —

Burglary attempt: Meadowbrook Boulevard

At 1:05 a.m. on May 23, a resident, a 43-year-old man, reported waking up to the sound of someone trying to kick the front door of his home. The man said he also heard male voices at the door.

The police discovered that the entrance had not been made to the house. The detective office has been notified.

Disruption: Milton Road

At 7:05 a.m. on May 23, a 12-year-old boy called police to an apartment following a report of physical domestic disturbance involving his 31-year-old father and 29-year-old mother. The police found that no one had been injured. A firearm was removed from the residence.

A report was sent to the city attorney to determine if charges would be brought.

Arrest Warrant: Allison Road

At 2:40 a.m. on May 24, an officer stopped a car that had made a wrong turn. It was then learned that the driver, a 31-year-old Cleveland Heights woman, was wanted on a Willoughby police warrant for theft.

The woman was cited for the traffic offense and handed over to Willoughby Police.

Flight: Warrensville Center Road

At 12:50 p.m. on May 27, an employee of Macy’s, 2201 Warrensville Center Road, went to the police station to report that someone had stolen her car’s license plate while it was parked on May 26 May in the garage of the Place de l’Université.

Disruption: Warrensville Center Road

At 5 p.m. on May 27, a Macy’s employee went to the police station to report that her tax preparer had threatened her while she was at work.

Fraud: Path of the Cedars

At 2.35pm on May 28, police were called to the Speedway gas station, 14458 Cedar Road, following a report that four days earlier a man and a woman had used a fraudulent credit card to buy $2,106 in gift cards.

Surveillance video showed the suspects were both wearing surgical masks and dark glasses. The police are investigating.

Missing Person: Cedar Road

At 2.05pm on May 28, police were called to Whole Foods, 13998 Cedar Road, following a report that a 13-year-old boy had run away from his home and was attempting to be driven away by drivers. The boy said he was trying to get to a relative in Shaker Heights.

Police investigated and learned that the boy lived with his grandmother in University Heights and had behavioral issues. There are also possible problems with the grandmother.

Police returned the boy to his grandmother’s home and notified a county child and family services social worker.

Flight: South Green Road

At 1:55 p.m. on May 29, police were dispatched to Heinen’s, 2180 S. Green Road, following a report of stolen magazines and ibuprofen totaling $47.13. The suspect had left the scene before police arrived.
