Is Kenneth Choi leaving 9-1-1 season 5? Where is his Chimney character? If you have some of these questions coming in tonight, we understand more than that. Last week’s episode ended emotionally, with the character making the decision to go find Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt). He’s going to do whatever it takes to get her home, but with the limited evidence he has of her whereabouts, we feel like things are. not it will be easy.
Now, this is where we need to deliver some of the bad news: We don’t feel like we’ll be seeing too much of Chimney in the immediate future. It doesn’t mean the character is gone; instead, the writers could save more of that story for a big episode down the road. We know Hewitt is temporarily absent from the show on maternity leave, so there’s a chance Chimney and Maddie will both return at the same time; or, there’s a chance Chimney will spend an entire episode looking for her and then find her at the end.
Rest assured that whatever the case, there are more interesting things to come for Choi and his character down the road – although we have to wait a bit for that. Good things happen to those who wait, don’t they? This is not the first time that 9-1-1 operated according to such a philosophy.
The bad news in general tonight is that once this episode is over, we could wait a bit to see the sequel. A weeklong hiatus is currently scheduled for October 25, with the show returning to the other side in November to kick off the scans.
