Irrigreen is shaking up the landscaping industry by reducing its water footprint by 50%
TL; DR: Check Irrigreen, the digital sprinkler system that can cut your water bills in half. Since June 12, this landscaping company has accepted participatory investments of $ 150 or more.
Water is not as plentiful as it used to be. And more and more epic droughts in the western United States certainly does not help matters. So not to be the bearer of bad news, but it makes your current lawn irrigation system – which not only waters your lawn, but everything else nearby – a little irresponsible.
Water your lawn with a typical sprinkler system for just one hour uses about 1,020 gallons of water. Watering three times a week works out to about 12,240 gallons per month. Now imagine how much water is wasted, thanks to systems that overlap and those that just don’t suit your lawn. If your sprinkler is watering the sidewalk or driveway more than your actual grass, there is a problem. It’s time for a better way, and Irrigreen hopes to be the lawn irrigation system of the future by halving outdoor water use.
Like a green robot for your lawn care needs, Irrigreen is a digital sprinkler system that reduces outdoor water use and water bills by up to 50 percent by irrigating to the exact shape of your landscaping. As homeowners search for a way to reduce their water footprint, Irrigreen is coming up with a solution that could disrupt the $ 6 billion landscaping industry with an economically healthy way to keep lawns lush. With more than 300 installations since its launch and six patents issued, the environmentally friendly and sustainable company seeks to develop with support from technological investors who think the same way.
How does the Irrigreen system work?
Rather than just spraying water willy-nilly, Irrigreen’s software-controlled digital heads “print” water. This means you get the same green lawn, but only using half the water. The sprinkler head has built-in software that can map the landscape and print the water in the shape of any lawn. And, of course, everything is controlled by an app on your phone. Think of it like an inkjet printer that only produces images on paper where the computer tells it to, only with water for your garden.
Like any good smart device, Irrigreen also tracks live data, like weather conditions, so it doesn’t needlessly water the lawn when it rains, and aims to keep your landscape green during hot spells.
