Greenwise supports project to ban gasoline blowers
Greenwise Organic Lawn Care fully supports the proposed ban on gasoline blowers. Greenwise supports any initiative that pushes our industry towards zero emissions technology and encourages entrepreneurs and residents of the Evanston community in that direction. We believe the momentum around electrical equipment is good for the Evanston community, good for our employees, and well aligned with our mission of environmental stewardship.
Since Greenwise was founded in Evanston in 2007, our goal has been to lighten our footprint by creating and maintaining safe lawns and gardens. For some time now, our company has been gradually moving towards low-emission and zero-emission landscaping equipment.
As of 2008, Greenwise has only used 100% propane powered mowers, which run much cleaner than conventional gasoline mowers. Over the past five years, we have added zero emission mowers to our fleet and plan to continue to do so as technology improves. In our opinion, mowing technology is not as advanced as that of hand tools. For hand tools, we are approaching a point where the power of electrical equipment rivals gasoline alternatives.
Today, all Greenwise maintenance teams have access to electric fans. We use electric mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers and string trimmers. Once heavy electric vehicles are available and viable for landscaping companies, we also plan to invest in electric technology for our fleet.
