STATEWIDE — Gas prices in Florida fell last week, down 2 cents per gallon. The state average is just below $3 for the first time this month, at $2.993 a gallon as of Monday, according to AAA.

The average price of gasoline in the state of Florida is 3 cents lower than this year’s high, set on August 5. That’s 81 cents more than the average price on January 1, 2021; and 83 cents more than the same time last year. On this day in 2019, gas prices in Florida averaged $2.41 per gallon.
“Gasoline prices are slowly coming down as most refineries that shut down due to Hurricane Ida are now in restart mode,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesperson for AAA – The Auto Club Group. . “Drivers could see another week of similar declines this week after a relatively quiet week in the futures market.”
Regular prices in Tampa-St. The Petersburg-Clearwater area and The Villages are among the cheapest in the state at $2.95 per gallon.
The record was $4.08 per gallon in July 2008.
