the goodbye birdie alum enjoyed a lunch with his wife Arlene Silver on Friday, May 20 in Malibu, Calif., after working out at the gym. In the photos obtained by page 6the legendary actor can be seen wearing black track pants and a ‘sugar spoon’ sweatshirt – a callback to his iconic 1964 film Mary Poppins in which he portrays the local chimney sweep, Mr. Dawes.

âI thought there would be an uproar about a gold digger marrying an old man,â Van Dyke admitted in an interview with Closer Weekly in March. “But no one has ever taken that attitude.”
The Missouri native, who began his Broadway career more than half a century ago, attributes his vitality to Silver’s similar spirit and energy.
“We share an attitude,” said the Emmy Award winner. âShe can go with the flow. She loves to sing and dance, which we do almost every day. She is simply lovely.
Money, for its part, echoed the Matlock the feeling of the actor. âHe is the most perfect human being,â she exclaimed at the time. “I’ve never met someone so happy, so genuine, so amazing. He’s like a happy pill.
The couple met in 2007 at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, where the Diagnosis Murder star presented the lifetime achievement award to Mary Poppins costar Julie Andrews and the makeup artist was instructed to powder his nose.
“He said, ‘Hi, I’m Dick,’ and the first thing I asked him was, ‘Weren’t you in Mary Poppins?'” Silver recalled meeting her husband. “We hit it off immediately as friends, so he didn’t feel like he was much older than me.”
In a November 2015 interview with CNN, the entertainer shared how he maintains his youthful spirit. “Don’t do anything that isn’t fun,” he advised. “I may have reached that point in life where I don’t have to do anything that isn’t fun.”
He went on to joke about his age: âIt’s such a surprise. I remember at 80 I said it was okay, that’s fine, I didn’t know it was a very slippery slope after that.
For the Tony Award winners’ 90th birthday celebration in December 2015, he attended a flash mob at The Grove in Beverly Hills, California.
The performers, dressed as chimney sweeps just like Van Dyke’s character Bert from the Disney classic, delivered his trademark songs, including “Step In Time”, “Chim Chim Cher-ee”, “Jolly Holiday” and ” Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”.
In the end, he joined the band and delivered “Let’s Go Fly a Kite” by Poppins. Afterwards, the crowd sang the birthday song to the actor.
Van Dyke posted a video via the event’s social media at the time, tweeting, “So grateful that at 90 I can still go out and play.”
